Why do you think most harem anime and manga have lame male protagonists that would be considered losers and pathetic by most people?

When he approached you, he never thought about love, because he did not love you. He only thought about how he could take from you, until you were left a dried-out husk.

This one is easy to answer.

This is a real question: Why do a lot of men/boys hate (yes, hate) women that voice their criteria in choosing a partner? Even when the criteria is sane and responsible. Besides it being, sadly, an effective mating strategy, why does it exist?
